Abstract

Objective To study the clinical value of plasma N-terminal pro-brain B-type natriuretic peptides(NT-proBNP) levels in the diagnosis of elderly patients with chronic heart failure. Methods 156 elderly patients were divided into heart failure group(n=92) and non-heart failure group(n=64).The plasma NT-proBNP levels of the patients of the groups were detected by Roche luminescence immunology method. Results The plasma NT-proBNP levels of the heart failure group were significantly higher than those of the non-heart failure group, the difference was statistically significant(P0.001).The plasma NT-proBNP levels of the patients were closely related to the NYHA CHF grading standards(P0.01),the higher NT-proBNP level was,the worse heart failure was. Conclusion Plasma NT-proBNP level is effective in the diagnosis of elderly patients with chronic heart failure, which has important value in clinical diagnosis with the advantages of simple operation, high sensitivity and strong specificity.
