Abstract

Objective To investigate the clinical effect of mesalazine in combination of sulfasalazine in treatment of ulcerative colitis. Methods One hundred cases of ulcerative colitis were randomly divided into two groups, with 50 cases in each group. The control group was treated with sulfasalazine and the observation group was treated with mesalazine in addition to treatment of the control group. The two groups were treated for 1 weeks and followed up for 3 months and were observed for treatment effect, symptoms before and after treatment and change of mucus under microscope. Results The excellent and good rates of the observation group were96. 00%,higher than 72. 00% of the control group( P 0. 01). Before treatment, symptoms and endoscopic mucous change scores of the two groups were compared, the difference was not statistically significant( P 0. 05); after treatment, symptoms and endoscopic mucous change scores of two groups were lower than those before treatment( P 0. 01); after treatment, the symptoms and endoscopic mucous change scores of the two groups were lower than those before treatment( P 0. 05). The incidence rate of adverse reactions in observation group was lower than that in control group( P 0. 05). Conclusion The effect of the combined use of mesalazine and sulfasalazine in the treatment of ulcerative colitis is obvious with a low rate of adverse reactions and is worthy of clinical application.
