The Application of Relevance Theory in the Teaching of Foreign Language Reading

Relevance theory has a theoretical and practical significance to the English reading teaching and the improvement on reading skills.On the perspective of relevance theory,reading comprehension is a language communication activity,which is a process that the readers infer the information and communicative purpose from the implication.In the teaching process of English reading,teachers should consciously impart the knowledge of relevance theory to the students in order to guide the students to infer by using the relevance theory during reading so as to improve their pragmatic recognition ability.
