Abstract
Objective To study the clinical effect and experience of the partial splenicl embolization (PSE) in the treatment of hypersplenism and portal hypertension. Methods 38 patients with hypersplenism and portal hypertension were included in the group. Catheter was inserted through the right femoral artery with Seldinger technique, and the tip located in splenic artery. Splenic angiography was made to observe the conformation and the size of spleen, then suitable gelfoam particles were injected to embolize the part of the spleen. Results The hypersplenism symptoms were alleviated in varying degrees, and blood cell count was increased. Conclusion Partial splenic embolization for the treatment of portal hypertension and hypersplenism can relieve portal hypertension, increase blood cell count and improve immune function.
