Abstract

Objective To investigate the expression and clinicopathologic significance of Bmi-1 in breast infiltrating ductal carcinoma. Methods Immunohistochemistry method was applied to detect the expression of Bmi-1,Her-2,ER and PR in 60 cases of breast infiltrating ductal carcinoma. And Bmi-1 was also detected in 30 cases of mammary hyperplasia. Results In 60 cases of breast infiltrating ductal carcinoma, the Bmi-1 protein was highly expressed in 29 cases(48.3%).In 30 cases of mammary hyperplasia, the Bmi-1 protein was highly expressed in 6 cases(20.0%),there was significant differences between the two groups(P0.05).The intensive expression of Bmi-1 was positively correlated to lymph node metastasis and clinical stage(P0.05),but not to age, tumor size, histological grading,Her-2,estrogen receptor(ER),progesterone receptor(PR) expression(P0.05).Conclusion The intensive expression of Bmi-1 in breast infiltrating ductal carcinoma is related to tumor progression.Bmi-1 may serve as a new molecular marker of metastasis of breast cancer.
