A study on assessment standard for height and body weight of adolescent aged 6～22 years in Guangxi

Objective To develop the standards of height for age(HFA),weight for age(WFA)for adolescent aged 6～22 years in Guangxi and compare with those of the national's in 1995.Methods ①Randomized stratified clustered sampling method was used.The data of height,weight and the birthdays of 18 080 adolescent(9 064 boys,9 016 girls)were collected from the physical fitness and health surveillance in Guangxi in 2005.②According to the percentage,the P3～P97、P50±1 s、P50±2 s and P50±3 s of HFA and WFA were calculated.Their standards were developed by regression curve fitting method.The P50 curves of HFA and WFA for boys and girls in Guangxi were compared with those from the national standards respectively.Results The trend of curves of HFA,WFA for adolescent aged 6～22 years in Guangxi were similar to that in the nation,but the majority averages were lower than the nation's,and the difference increased gradually along with the adolescent age.Conclusion There is an obvious difference in the standards of HFA and WFA for children aged 7～22 years between Guangxi's and the nation's.It is suggested to use the standards of Guangxi to assess the growth and development of the adolescents aged 6～22 years in Guangxi.
