Abstract

Objective To investigate the clinical efficacy of combination of benazepril and irbesartan on diabetic nephropathy. Methods A total of 86 patients with diabetic nephropathy in phase Ⅳ were randomy divided into 3 groups.Group A contained the combination of benazepril and irbesarta. The other 2 groups served as benazepril group and irbesarta group. The treatment lasted for 5 months, and 24 hours quantitation for urinary protein, renal and serum potassium were tested every month.Baic treatment included insulin and oral hypoglycemia, with antihypertensive drugs such as calcium channel blockers if necessary.Blood sugar and blood pressure were normal. Results There was a decrease in urinary protein after 5 months of treatment in all groups, more significant in combination of benazepril and irbesartan group compared with that of the other 2 groups(P0.05).No hyperkalemia and renal faicure were observed. Conclusion Combination of benazepril and irbesartan in diabetic nephropathy can decrease urinary protein, and enhance clinical efficacy.
