Determination of baicalin and chlorogenic acid in Yinhuang capsules and Yinhuang granules by capillary electrophoresis

Abstract

Objective To establish a method for the content determination of baicalin and chlorogenic acid in Yinhuang capsules and Yinhuang granules. Methods Samples were analyzed on a uncoated fused silica capillary (55 cm×75 μm, 47 cm) using 40 mmol/L Na2B4O7(pH 9.30)as running buffer. The voltage was 15 kV. The detection wavelength was 310 nm. Results The method was validated over linear ranges of 20.2~101 μg/mL(r=0.9981)for baicalin and 5.15~25.75 μg/mL(r=0.9991)for chlorogenic acid. The average recoveries of baicalin and chlorogenic acid in Yinhuang capsules were 105.0% and 97.2%,respectively. The average recoveries of baicalin and chlorogenic acid in Yinhuang granules were 101.3% and 96.6%,respectively. Conclusion This technique provides a sensitive, rapid, reproducible and inexpensive assay suitable for quantitative determination of baicalin and chlorogenic acid in Yinhuang capsules and Yinhuang granules.
