Abstract

A strain of virus was isolated from the brain and spleen of ill goose in Jiangsu province by the method of SPF chicken embryo culture. The isolation was confirmed to be goose paramyxovirus(GPMV)based on the serological test and on 50% embryo lethal(ELD50),mean death time(MDT) of chicken embryo, intracerebral pathogenicity index(ICPI) in 1-day-old chicken, artificial infection of 30-day-old goose and chicken. The virus particales present polymorphous observed by electron microscope, such as orbicular, columned and amorphous,100~200 nm,have envelope membrane and spike. The result demonstrated that the isolate was high virulent paramyxovirus.Disease with the same syndroms and pathological changes as natural infected cases could be observed on artificial infected cases.
