Abstract

[Objective] The research aimed to confirm the diseased cause of infection that occurred in a goose farm in Jiangsu province in Spring of 2007.[Method] The diseased samples were collected from the diseased gaggle to make epidemiological investigation, pathogen isolation and identification, hemagglutination(HA) test and hemagglutination inhibition(HI) test. The HI titers of F2 isolates and Lasota virus strain were determined in cross HI test. The diluted allantoic fluid of F2 infected chicken embryo was used to infect geese and SPF chicken to observe the disease and death conditions.[Result] By SPF chicken embryo inoculation and passage, one virus strain was isolated form the mixed diseased samples of brain, spleen and pancreas of diseased and dead geese. This isolated strain was proved to be avian paramyxovirus type I through HA and HI test.Artificial infection test on chicken and geese showed that this strain both had high pathogenicity to chicken and geese, and the test of mixed feeding in the same group showed that this isolate had stronger infectivity and it belonged to virulent NDV,which further validated that this virus was a new member of avian paramyxovirus, namely goose paramyxovirus.[Conclusion] This research provided evidences for the occurrence of some new pathogenic characteristics of NDV and its pathogenicity to goose in the same way.
