Abstract
An isolate of avian paramyxovirus from goose was c ha racterized as DG01. This virus was able to agglutinate chicken red blood cel ls which can be inhibited by Newcastle disease virus and goose paramyxovirus standard antisera. This virus was lethal to SPF chicken embryos, duck embryos, g oose embryos and resulted in 100% mortality. Morphological examination showe d that this virus was polymorphous, enveloped, with an approximate diameter of 200 nm. The ELD 50 was 10 8.6 /mL and MDT was 56h in embry onating chicken eggs. ICPI was 1.94 in new hatched chicks. F gen e of DG01 was amplified with reverse transcription-polymerase chain reactio n(RT-PCR) and sequenced .The results demonstrated that this virus is high virul ent strain and the identified F Gene(HBS209) belong to genotype Ⅶ ,which have 91.8% similarity with CH2000. So it was suggested that DG01 i s a variant of APMV-1.The recurrent infection showed that this virus can in fect goose, chicken and pigeon with 100% morbidity and 100% mortality, but no path oegnicity to the duck.
