The application experience of traditional hernioplasty and plug mesh hernia repair in the treatment of inguinal hernia

Objective To compare the traditional hernioplasty and plug mesh hernia repair in the clinical treatment of inguinal hernia.Methods One hundred twenty cases of inguinal hernia hospitalized from February 2006 to December 2010 were randomly selected and divided into two groups.The control group(40 cases) underwent traditional hernioplasty,the treatment group(80 cases) treated by plug mesh hernia repair.The operative time,hospitalization time,postoperative complications and recurrence were compared between two groups.Results There were significant differences(P0.05) in reambulation,hospitalization time,postoperative complications and recurrence rate between two groups,however no difference was found in operative time between two groups(P 0.05).Conclusion The plug mesh hernia repair is a good choice for inguinal hernia surgery at present because of the short hospital stay,rapid recovery,no wound infection,and low recurrence rate.
