Value of multi-slice spiral CT in the diagnosis of pancreatic carcinoma.

Objective To investigate the value of multi-phase technique of multi-slice spiral CT in the diagnosis of pancreatic carcinoma.Methods A total of 83 patients with pancreatic masses treated by multi-slice spiral CT in the arterial phase,parenchymal phase,venous phase were enrolled in the study.All the patients were confirmed by pathological examination,including 38 cases of pancreatic carcinoma and 45 cases of acute pancreatitis.The enhanced CT values were compared between pancreatitis and pancreatic carcinoma.Results Multi-slice spiral CT scan can show the tumor location,size,shape and density,as well as the relationships of tumor with the surrounding organs and blood vessels.For patients with pancreatic cancer,there were 37 cases of retroperitoneal lymph node metastasis,32 cases of celiac artery,29 cases of superior mesenteric vein,17 cases of liver metastasis,36 cases of pancreatic duct dilatation,32 cases of gallbladder wall thickening.For patients with pancreatitis,there were 9 cases of pancreatic duct dilatation and 10 cases of gallbladder wall thickening.The enhancement effect was good in the parenchymal phase,and statistically significant difference was found between pancreatic parenchyma and pancreatic carcinoma(P0.05).Conclusion Enhanced scan by multi-slice spiral CT in the arterial phase,parenchymal phase,and venous phase is of great value in the diagnosis of pancreatic carcinoma.
