Clinical observation on treatment of chronic severe hepatitis with artificial liver support system

Objective: To investigate the clinical effect of plasma exchange (PE),one of the artificial liver support system,in the treatment of liver function failure of chronic severe hepatitis.Methods: 28 paitients with liver funvtion failure of chronic severe hepatitis were treated for 42 courses with PE.Clinical symptoms and laboratory markers (liver function, plasma thromboplastin antecedent PTA,blood ammonia) of pretreatment and post-treatment were compared.Side effects related to treatment and patient compliance were observed.Results: The symptoms such as inertia, abdominal distention,bad appetite and so on were improved greatly,serum total bilirubin decreased significantly(P0.001).Conclusion: PE can significantly improve the clinical symptoms laboratory markers of patients with liver function failure of chronic severe hepatitis.
