Abstract
Objective: To study the clinical significance of the determination of serum β2-microglobulin(β2-MG) level in patients with oral tumors. Methods: The serum β2-MG level was determined in 39 patients with oral benign tumors and 24 patients with oral malignant tumors. The serum levels of β2-MG before and 1 month after operation were compared in 3 patients with oral malignant tumors. Results: The serum β2-MG level in patients with benign tumors was significantly lower than that in patients with malignant tumors(1.54±0.458 vs.2.09±0.702 mg/L,P 0.05).No significant difference was found in 3 patients before and 1 month after operation(2.11±0.920 vs.1.87±0.383 mg/L, P 0.05).Conclusion: The determination of serum β2-MG level could be used as a supplementary method for the diagnosis of oral tumors.
