Abstract

[Objective] To evaluate the role of multi-slice computed tomography (MSCT) in the diagnosis of the disease which had upper urinary tract seen unclearly in intravenous urography. [Methods] To analyze CT reconstruction images of 46 patients with poor visualization in the intravenous urography. All those patients underwent MSCT plain scan. Original data were transmitted to the workstation, and 3D images of the urinary system with MIP, MPR, CPR, SSD, and VR were obtained. [Results] Among the 46 cases, there were 20 cases of ureteral calculus,7 cases of ureteropelvis junction stenosis,3 cases of inflammatory stenosis,1 case of ureter injury with urine leakage,2 cases of ectopic vessel compression at left ureter,3 cases of ureter and kidney tuberculosis,3 cases of primary uretal cancer,1 case of lower ureter diverticulum,4 cases of small kidneys(1 case of horseshoe kidney with the right renal dysplasia),2 cases of both renals atrophy. All cases were confirmed by surgery, ureteroscopy and clinic. [Conclusion] MSCT reconstruction after intravenous urography has high value in clinical application for the disease with poor visualization of the upper urinary tract in intravenous urography and improve accurate rate.
