Expression and clinical implication of PCNA,P21,P53 in human gastric cancer

Abstract
Objective:To study the relationship between the expression of PCNA,P21,P53 and the clinical pathological characteristics in human gastric cancer.Methods:The expressions of PCNA,P21,P53 protein were examined by S P immunohistochemical technique in 46 cases of human gastric carcinoma.Results:The positive expression rate of PCNA,P21,P53 in gastric cancer was 80.4%,56.5%,45.7%,respectively.The expressions of the 3 kinds of proteins were not correlated with the histological type and differentiation.The expression rate of P21 in advanced gastric cancer(62.9%) was significantly higher than that in early stage gastric cancer(36.4%).The expression of PCNA was correlated with invasive depth and metastasis.The expression of P21 was correlated with lymph nodes and distal metastasis,whereas,it was not correlated with the invasive depth.The P53 protein expression was not correlated with the clinical pathological characteristics.The expression of PCNA cooperated with the those of P21 and P53.Conclusion:The expressions of PCNA,P21,P53 proteins might be related to the carcinogenesis and development of gastric cancer.The 3 kinds of genic proteins are good indicators for evaluating the biological characteristics of gastric cancer.
