Experience in Vein Puncture on Children

[Objective] To explore the reasons for failure in vein puncture on children. [Methods] The effect of 219 cases of vein puncture was statistically evaluated. [Results] 152 cases of vein puncture were successful, 67 cases unsuccessful. 51 of the unsuccessful puncture required re-puncture at another place, 5 cases were found leaking, 8 cases were over slow in liquid dropping, 3 cases were found with needles pooling off. [Conclusion] The major reasons for failure in vein puncture on children were wrong selection of place for puncture, unsuitable needles and improper puncture methods.
