Progress of Studies on the Mechanism and Control of Activated Sludge Bulking

Activated sludge process is used in many wastewater treatment plants,But it is often accompanied by sludge bulking which happens easily and harms the operation of activated sludge process seriously.This paper describes the type of sludge bulking and induced mechanism.Quality of wastewater,dissolved oxygen,sludge loading,shock loading,operation model and treatment processes are the main affecting factors for bulking sludge.It summed up the measures of controlling the sludge bulking.
