Abstract
Objective To study the depression status and correlated factors in chronic renal failure patients with maintenance hemodialysis. Methods Zung Depression scale was used to evaluate the depression status and correlated factors in 56 cases. Results There were 67.8% of patients in various depressive status according to their SDS results. The incidence of depression in the middle-age group was higher than the young and the elderly.Anuria patients were more likely to have depression than patients with residual renal function.Patients whose payments were at their own expenses were more depressive than the patients whose payments were paid by government or insurance. The depression status was not correlated with gender nor education level. Conclusion In order to maintain the mental health of patients with hemodialysis, clinical health care providers should pay more attention to the patients and take various methods to relieve their depression emotion.
