Comparative Study of Venlafaxine and Mirtazapine on the Treatment of Depression

Abstract

Objective: To evaluate the curative effects and adverse reactions of mirtazapine and venlafaxine on depression.Methods: Sixty patients with depression were randomly divided into venlafaxine group and mirtazapine group.And the patients in two groups were treated with venlafaxine and mirtazapine for 8 weeks,respectively.The curative effects and adverse reactions were evaluated with Hamilton depression scale(HAMD) and treatment emergent symptom scale(TESS),respectively.Results: There were no significant differences in the curative effects between two drugs,and adverse reactions of two drugs were fewer.Conclusion: Mirtazapine and venlafaxine can be the first choice in the treatment of depression.
