Abstract

Objective To investigate the supplementary effect of Bifico on T lymphocyte subsets in children with recurrent respiratory tract infection.Methods 96 children with recurrent respiratory tract infection were randomly allocated into two groups:the treatment group received conventional treatment plus bifico and the control group received conventional treatment only.The episodes of RRI,the T lymphocyte subsets(CD3,CD4,CD8) measurements and the adverse events were recorded in the following 12 months.Results The total effective rates of the treatment group and the control group were 91.3% and 73.3% respectively,and there was significant difference between the two groups(P0.05).Compared with control group,the number of episodes of respiratory infections(t=9.09) significantly reduced;the days of fever(t=7.22),cough(t=7.58) reduced in treatment group.After treatment CD3,CD4 and the rate of CD4/CD8 significantly increased(P0.01),while CD8 significantly decreased(P0.01) in the treatment group.There were no apparently changes in the control group before and after therapy.Conclusion Bifico may has a role of immune adjustment on recurrent respiratory tract infection,preventing its acute onset.
