Abstract
OBJECTIVE:To investigate the prognostic significance of the expression of Cox-2 protein in lung cancer.METHODS:The positive expressions of Cox-2 and CD34 proteins were observed in 116 cases of lung cancer by immunohistochemical staining and the microvascular density of tumor was counted.RESULTS:The positive rate of Cox-2 protein expression in the specimens of 116 lung cancer was 67.2%(78 cases). The expression of Cox-2 was related to tumor TNM staging(P=0.014)and lymph nodes metastasis(P=0.009),and the microvascular density in the positive expression of lung cancer was significantly higher than that in the negative expression,P=0.000.COX model showed that lymph nodes metastasis(P=0.004)and the positive expression of Cox-2 protein(P=0.000)were poor factors to the prognosis of lung cancer patients.CONCLUSION:Protein Cox-2 can be served as a potential marker of prognosis in lung cancer.
