Abstract
Objective: To observe the correlation between COX-2 expression in lung cancer tissues and the clinicopathological features of lung cancer patients and to evaluate its role as a prognosis marker. Methods: The expression of COX-2 was detected in 58 cases primary lung cancer tissues and 9 cases normal pulmonary tissues as control by immunohistochemical method. Results: There was significant difference of COX-2 expression 60.34%(35/58) in lung cancer and 11.11%(1/9) in normal pulmonary tissues(P0.01),COX-2 expression were correlated with lung cancer TNM classification and lymph node invasiveness(P0.05),and were not correlated with age, sex, smoking history, histology type of patients(P0.05).The positive COX-2 expression group had a shorter survival time than that in negative expression group(P=0.001). Conclusion: COX-2 may play an important role in the development and invasiveness of lung cancer,it might be a useful marker in the prognosis of lung cancer.
