Abstract
Purpose To investigate the expression of survivin, p53 and COX-2 in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and their clinical significance. Methods The expression of survivin, p53 and COX-2 in 70 cases of NSCLC were determined by immunohistochemistry with SP method. Results The expression of survivin and COX-2 was related to histopathological types, lymphatic metastasis and TNM grade of lung cancer (P0.01), while that of p53 was correlated with histopathological types of lung cancer, and the positive rates of over-expression (■~■) were much more than that of low-moderate (+~■). There was significant difference between two groups (P0.01). The positive rate of COX-2 expression was the highest among three proteins in NSCLC .The COX-2 positive ratios was 76%. Conclusions Our results indicate that the expression of survivin, p53 and COX-2 proteins may play an important role in invasion, metastasis and development in non-small cell lung cancer and it helps to diagnose lung cancer and to evaluate the prognosis.
