Effect of propofol and remifentanil on anesthesia for induced abortion

Objective To observe the safety and efficacy of propofol combined with low-dose remifentanil on anesthesia for induced abortion.Methods 100 cases of early pregnancy with voluntarily induced abortion were randomly assigned to two groups.GroupⅠ(50 cases) was anesthetized with propofol,whereas groupⅡ(50 cases) was anesthetized with propofol combined with remifentanil.The changes of heart rate,breath rate and oxygen saturation were observed during operation.The dose of propofol,the time for recovery and leaving hospital and the incidence of abdominal pain after operation were recorded.Results The effect of analgesia in groupⅡ was better than that of groupⅠ(P0.05).The consumed dose of propofol in groupⅡ was less than that in groupⅠ(P0.01).Both the time for recovery and leaving hospital in groupⅡ were shorter than that in groupⅠ(P0.01).Conclusion Propofol combined with remifentanil on induced abortion is safer and more reliable than that on propofol only.
