Abstract

Li Rugui's Yi Li Ji Shi(Anthology of Elucidations of Rites) is an important anthological work of Ritual studies in Song Dynasty. In addition to a full transcription of Zheng Xuan's Yi Li Zhu(Annotations to Rites) the book contains a part of Explications which consists of interpretations to some lines in the book of Rites and notes on Zheng Xuan's annotations. This part is an immediate reflection of Li Rugui's original discoveries in Ritual studies. It is shown through exploring the expounding annotations in Explications that the unique form is common in Li's Book, reflected in respects of his elaborations to Zhng Xuan's annotations, his quotation of Pre-Qin Confucian works and his collation of Zheng Xuan's literature materials and Zheng Xuan's remarks on character pronunciations. The book is a very important literature in the history of Ritual studies.
