An Interpretation of Hua-yan-jing with the View of Yi -A New Annotation of Hua-yan-jing by LI Tong-xuan

Abstract

Yi and Hua-yan-jing respectively belong to Confucian classics and Buddhists' classics. LI Tong-xuan's annotation of Hua-yan-jing with the view of Yi and traditional Confucian view opens up a new way to understand Hua-yan-jing. Departing from the comprehension of heretical doctrine concept and LI's annotation with the view of Yi, this paper analyses the characteristics of LI's thoughts. In addition, this paper excavates the philosophical significance of the attempt to combine Buddhism with Confucianism at the end.
