Abstract
To investigate the incidence of impaired glucose regulation (IGR) i.e. impaired glucose tolerance or impaired fasting glucose (IGT/IFG) and to reveal the relationship between IGR and hypertension, lipid disorder and overweight/obesity. A randomized, muitistage and cross-sectional study in a population of 1960 from September 1998 to October 1999 was done. The incidence of IGT/IFG was 13.0% of the population who were over 40,and it was even higher in elder people over 60, which was 17.3%. The incidence of IGT/IFG was getting higher with the increase of age (P0.01). [Conclusion] Effective intervention of IGT/IFG will decrease the occurrences of type 2 diabetes and macrovascular complications.
