Abstract
Objective:To investigate the incidence of impaired glucose regulation(IGR) i.e.impaired glucose tolerance or impaired fasting glucose(IGT/ IFG) and to reveal the relationship between IGR and hypertension, fatty liver disease, hyperuricemia, lipid disorder and overweight/obesity.Methods:A study in a policeman population of 1 138 from January 2010 to January 2011 was done. Results:The incidence of IGR was 12.5%.The incidence of IGR was getting higher with the increase of age.Compared with glucose normal cases,IGR cases showed higher prevalence of hypertension, lipid disorder and overweight/obesity(P0.01).Multivariable logistic analysis showed that the risk factors of impaired glucose regulation were familial history of diabetes mellitus, age, body mass index and hypertriglyceride. Conclusion:Effective intervention and health management such as diet adjustment, control weight, stop smoking and limiting drinking of IGR will decrease the occurrences of type 2 diabetes and macrovascular complications
