Expression of survivin gene and its correlation with VEGF expression in gastric carcinoma

Objective To investigate the role of survivin gene in the pathogenesis of gastric carcinoma and its correlation with VEGF in tumor metatastsis.Methods The expression of survivin and VEGF were detected by immunhistochemical staining in 42 gastric carcinoima samples and 22 normal gastric samples.Results The positive expression rates of surviving and VEGF in gastric carcinoma were 57.14% and 69.05%.In para-carcinomatous normal mucosa,the positive expression rates of them are 13.64% and 18.18%,respectively.There existed significant difference of the positive rate of surviving between the two groups(P0.05).The expression of surviving and VEGF in gastric carcinoma shows significant relationship with lymphrode metastasis.Conclusion The high expression of survivin and VEGF may play a key role in gastric carcinogenesis and development,and VEGF may be an important factor in inducing the up-regulaion of survivin.
