Evaluation on Effect of Tuberculosis Control Project Supported by World Bank Loan in Rong County

Objective To evaluate the effect of tuberculosis control project supported by World Bank loan in Rongxian County of Sichuan Province. Method The full-time treatment effect of the newly-recorded tuberculosis patients from 1992 to 2001 was evaluated by retrospective analysis method. Result In the 10 years,28 184 suspected tuberculosis cases had been received and diagnosed. The number of newly-recorded active tuberculosis patients was 4 308, including 4 145 smear positive cases, which made up 96.2% of the newly-recorded numbers. The sputum of 3 851 cases converted to negative after 2 months treatment, which made up 92.9% of smear positive cases.A total of 4 089 cases were cured under full-time treatment and that made up 98.6% of the total number of newly-recorded patients.Conclusion After implementing the technical strategy of tuberculosis control project seriously, the effect of tuberculosis control has been achieved successfully.
