From the choice of theme of Legend of Mohanzhai Definitive Edition approaching the ideological system of Feng Menglong

Abstract

Feng Menglong was a famous novelist and dramatist in Ming Dynasty. His “Three Romantic Novels” played a very important role in the literal history, while his Legend of Mohanzhai Definitive Edition had a special position in dramatic history. Feng Menglong followed two principles when he chose the themes of his dramas: with good plots and without crafty and evil plots. There were four themes in his Legend of Mohanzhai Definitive Edition: love, scholarly honour, history and philosophy. These themes reflected the ideological system of Feng Menglong and also had a close relation with his “Three Romantic Novels” .
