Abstract
Objective: To investigate the relationship of the osteopontin expression with the invasion and metastasis of gastric cancer. Methods: The expression of OPN was examined in 12 cases' non-cancer gastric tissues and 72 cases' gastric cancer tissues by using immunohistochemical method. Results: (1) The positive rates of OPN expression were 0?43.3%(13/30)?76.92%(20/26)and 87.5%(14/16) in 12 cases' non-cancer gastric tissues,30 cases' gastric cancer tissues without lymph nodes metastasis, 26 cases' gastric cancer tissues with lymph nodes metastasis and 16 cases' gastric cancer tissue with lymph nodes and other organs remote metastasis, respectively. (2) The positive rates of OPN expression in the gastric cancer tissue with lymph nodes and other organs metastasis or with lymph nodes metastasis only were entirely higher than those without lymph node metastasis, differences were respectively significent(χ 2=8.396, P=0.004; χ 2=6.493, P=0.011).Conclusions: OPN expression is closely related to the invasion and metastasis of gastric cancer , its molecular mechanism needs studying further.
