On Humanistic Spirit in Chinese Traditional Science and Technology

Through the investigation into the humanistic spirit which is unique in Chinese traditional science and technology,we find that,differing from the thought characteristics of positivism and rationalism that western science and technology indicates,Chinese traditional science and technology,restrained by the special philosophical cultural structure in the long history of development,has built up the spiritual features of organic naturalism of laying stress on entirety rather than part,irrationalism of focusing on intuition but not positive analysis,and instrumentalism of emphasizing practical use rather than theory.The humanistic spirit,filled with care for human value,as showed in the traditional Chinese science and technology,is undoubtedly of positive significance to illuminating and restricting the negative effects in the process of contemporary science and technology and promoting the all-scale development of contemporary science and technology.
