Clinical characteristics of elderly male patients with hypertension and its correlation with pulse pressure index

Abstract
Objective:To explore the clinical characteristics of elderly male patients with hypertension and its correlation with pulse pressure index.Methods:According to the age,male patients with hypertension were divided into the middle-aged group(15 cases) and the elderly group(16 cases),calculated pulse pressure index,analyzed 24 hours ambulatory blood pressure and clinical characteristics.Results:The elderly group of pulse pressure index and 24 hours average pulse pressure difference was larger than the middle-aged group(P0.01),the middle-age group of 24 hour average diastolic blood pressure and mean arterial pressure was significantly greater than the elderly group(P0.05 or P0.01),two groups of pulse pressure index and 24 hours pulse pressure difference were related(r=0.515,P0.05;r=0.501,P0.05),pulse pressure index in≥0.4 group of target organ damage was significantly greater than pulse pressure index in 0.4 group(P0.01).Conclusion:Elderlymale patients with hypertension mainly represents elevated systolic blood pressure,pulse pressure increase,it reflects the vascular sclerosis significantly in elderly hypertensive patients,pulse pressure index is a good indicator of the evaluation of vascular sclerosis;pulse pressure index in patients of ≥0.4 should be smooth step-down the blood pressure.
