Abstract

Objective To investigate the efficiency and safety of the airway nitinol alloy stent through fiberoptic bronchoscope in the treatment of malignant severe airway stenosis. Methods 26 patients with malignant severe airway stenosis were implanted with nitinol alloy stent through fiberoptic bronchoscope. Results Stent implantion was successful in all 26 patients. The technic success rate was 100%.Dyspnea significantly relieved in all patients. No severe complications occurred during the implantion. There was no position moved in one week after the treatment. No restenosis was found. Conclusion The implantaing of nitinol alloy stent through fiberoptic bronchoscope is an effective, safe, and simple method for the treatment of malignant severe airway stenosis.
