Callus induction of Camptotheca acumianta and camptothecin production

Abstract

Callus induction was successfully established from Camptotheca acuminata using young leaf explants.Of the various media tested,MS medium was the most suitable basal medium.Rhizogenesis could be observed in SH medium plus NAA 5 mg/L and 6-BA 0.1mg /L and camptothecin production was detected.Anticancer activities of the callus ethanol extracts were confirmed using Hela cell line.
