Expression of Osteopontin (OPN) and MMP-9 in Gallbladder Cancer and Its Clinical Significance

Objective To explore expression of osteopontin and MMP-9 in gallbladder cancer and its clinical significance.Methods The expression of osteopontin and MMP-9 was detected by immunohistochemical method in 40 cases of gallbladder cancer,10 cases of normal gallbladder and 10 cases of gallbladder adenoma.The relationship between the expression of osteopontin and MMP-9 was analyzed.Results The positive expression rates of osteopontin and MMP-9 in gallbladder cancer tissues were significantly higher than that in normal gallbladder tissues and gallbladder adenoma tissues(P0.05).The positive expression rates of osteopontin in patients of NEVIN Ⅳ,Ⅴstages were higher than that in patients of NEVIN Ⅰ,Ⅱ,Ⅲ stages)(P0.05).The expression of osteopontin was positively correlated with the expression of MMP-9(P0.05).Conclusion Both osteopontin and MMP-9 are significantly related to the metastasis of gallbladder cancer,and overexpression of both osteopontin and MMP-9 has a predictive value for metastasis and recurrence.
