Abstract
Objective:To evaluate the expression of MMP 2 and its significance in gallbladder carcinoma. Methods:We examined the expression of MMP 2 by using immunohistochemsitry technique. Results:The expression of MMP 2 was not detected in nomal gallbladder tissue. The positive signal rate in gallbladder carcinoma was 87.8%. MMP 2 expression was detected more predominantly in tumor cells than in peritumor stromal cells. The intensity of MMP 2 expression correlated with tumor stage(P0.05) and lymph node metastasis(P0.05). However, the expression intensity did not correlate with age,sex and histological type differentiation. Conclusion:Expressin of MMP 2 might play an important role in the development of gallbladder carcinoma, and MMP 2 become a biological marker for evaluating the malignant potential of gallbladder carcinoma.
