Abstract

Objectives To study the susceptibility and cross drug resistance of Candida albicans and the drug resistance rate, provide basis for clinical selection of antifungal agents and effective control of Candida albicans infections. Methods The minimal inhibitory concentrations (MIC 80) of 5 antifungal agents against 80 strains of virginal Candida albicans from clinical samples were determined by broth microdilution tests according to the National Committee for Clinical Laboratory Standards Method 27-A. Results The susceptibility rates of 80 strains of virginal Candida albicans against five antifungal agents were from 41.3% to 87.5% respectively, and the resistance rates were from 0% to 26.2% respectively. The 10 isolates resistant to fluconazole were cross-resistant to miconazole, and the 2 isolates resistant to fluconazole were cross-resistant to ketoconazole, and the 1 isolate resistant to miconazole was cross-resistant to ketoconazole. Conclusions all clinical isolates tested were susceptible to AmB, no resistant strains were observed. The drug -resistance rate to azole agents was high, and there were resistance and cross-resistance strains against triazole drugs.
