Abstract

Objective To observe the therapeutic effect of insulin glargine combined with acarbose on patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM).Methods 80 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus were randomly divided into two groups.38 patients in control group were treated with premixed insulin(Novolin 30R),however,the other 42 patients in treatment group were treated with insulin glargine combined with acarbose, with a treatment course of 12 weeks for both groups. The plasma levels of fast blood glucose(FBG),blood glucose of post-meal 2 hours(2hBG),glycosylated hemoglobin(HbAlc),body mass index(BMI),the time of blood glucose reaching the standard, incidence of hypoglycemia and daily dosage of insulin were detected before and after treatment. Results After 12-week treatment, the parameters including FBG,2 hBG,HbA1c were significantly improved in both groups,as compared with those before treatment(P0.05).However there were no significant differences in these parameters between the two groups(P0.05).There was no significant difference in BMI before and after treatment(P0.05),and there was no significant difference in the time of blood glucose reaching the standard between two groups(P0.05).There were significant differences in the daily dosage of insulin and incidence of hypoglycemia between two groups(P0.05).The therapeutic effect in treatment group was superior to that in control group. Conclusion The treatment protocols of insulin glargine combined with acarbose in treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus can significantly improve blood glucose, and can reduce incidence of hypoglycemia and decrease daily dosage of insulin, which has significant clinical efficiency and is worthy of being spread.
