A clinical analysis of aripiprazole and quetiapine in treatment of first episode schizophrenia

Abstract

Objective:To evaluate efficacy and safety of aripiprazole and quetiapine in the treatment of schizophrenia.Method:Eighty-five patients with first episode schizophrenia were randomly divided into aripiprazole group or quetiapine group.Positive and negative symptom scale(PANSS)and treatment emergent symptom scale(TESS)were used to evaluate the efficacy and adverse events of drugs before and after 2,4,8 weeks of treatments.Results:Aripiprazole had similar effects to quetiapine in the treatment of schizophrenia with positive and negative symptoms,with fewer side effects.Conclusion:Aripiprazole is one of effective and safe drugs in the treatment of schizophrenia.
