Abstract
Objective To investigate the clinical application value of the bilevel positive airway pressure(BiPAP) in patients with AECOPD combined with type Ⅱ respiratory failure. Methods 40 patients of acute exacerbations of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(AECOPD) with type Ⅱ respiratory failure were treatment group, compared with 20 patients of AECOPD with type 11 respiratory failure(control group) ,from May 2008 to September 2010.The control group received the routine therapy including anti-infection,eliminating phlegm, wheeze remission assistant with low-flow oxygen therapy by endonasal catheter continually;and the treatment group received BiPAP breathing machine assisted ventilation and the routine therapy. Results Compared with control group, arterial gas analysis was significantly improved, the clinical symptoms relieved rapidly, and the hospital days reduced in treatment group. There was significant difference between the two groups(P0.05) .Conclusion Using BiPAP ventilation to treat COPD with type Ⅱ respiratory failure is a safe and effective method, but its effectiveness must rely on the experiences and the clinical adjustments of the physician.
