Abstract

Objective To investigate the clinic effect of the facemask bilevel positive airway pressure(BIPAP) assisted ventilation on patients of chronic obstructive pulmonary (COPD) with type Ⅱ respiratory failure. Methods The total of 60 patients of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease with type Ⅱ respiratory failure were divided into two groups at random:Treatment group (30 cases) and control group (30 cases). The routine therapy was only given in the control group, but BIPAP assisted ventilation and the routine therapy both were given in the treatment group. The measures of heart rate, of respiratory rate and arterial gas analysis were observed before and after the treatment. Conclusion BIPAP assisted ventilation is certainly effective to COPD with type Ⅱ respiratory failure.
