Survey on reference data and range of four items of serum lipids in healthy adults in Muslim population in Lingwu City of Ningxia Province

Objective To explore and establish the reference range of items of serum lipids [total cholestrol (TC), triglycerides (TG), high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), and low-density liporotein cholesterol (LDL-C)] in healthy adults in Muslim population in Lingwu.Methods A demixing random sampling survey was carried out to investigate 838 healthy adults in Muslim population in Lingwu City. Meanwhile, the data were compared with those in 1 211 Han people who lived in the locality. Enzymic method was used to measure TC and TG, and direct method was used to measure HDL-C and LDL-C.Results Reference ranges of blood lipids were serum TC (4.94±1.09) mmol/L, TG (0.39-3.75) mmol/L, HDL-C (1.21±0.44) mmol/L, LDL-C (2.25±0.68) mmol/L.Conclusion Reference ranges of blood lipids in healthy adults in Muslim population in Lingwu City are consistent with literature material. There is no significant difference of blood lipids compared with those of Han people living in the locality, except of HDL-C.
