Abstract

Objective:To explore the expression of resistin and glucose transporter-1(GLUT-1)in placental trophoblast cells of normal pregnancy and gestational diabetes mellitus(GDM).Methods:The human term placenta tissue from normal pregnancies and gestational diabetes mellitus were divided into control and GDM groups. The morphological changes of trophoblastic cells were observed by using light microscope.Immunohistochemical technology was employed to detect the expression of resistin and GLUT-1in trophoblastic cells. Results:There was no obviously morphological difference between two groups under the light microscope;Immunohistochemical result showed that the expression of resistin was significantly higher in gestational diabetes mellitus group than those in normal group(P0.01).The expression of GLUT-1was significantly lowerthan those in gestational diabetes mellitus group(P0.01).Conclusion:Resistin may impact the transport of glucose between mother and fetus through down-regulating the expression of GLUT-1,and thus affect development of fetus.
