On Types and Manifestations of Zhuang Zi's Idea of Freedom

Abstract

Freedom,as a goal of value pursued by human beings,constitutes the core of Zhuang Zi's philosophy.According to the content,his idea of freedom can be classified into three types: freedom of living beings,freedom of man and freedom of ideal personality.Their specific manifestations are freedom of behavior,freedom of practice,freedom of spirit,freedom of idea,freedom in economy and freedom in politics.We should have a comprehensive rather than a one-sided understanding of Zhuang Zi's idea of freedom.
