Abstract

The criticism of feeling and setting in Chinese ancient literary theory goes through five stages: the Wei-Jin-North and South Dynasty is the emerging stage, the Tang Dynasty is the expanding stage, the Song Dynasty is the enriching stage, the Ming Dynasty is the deepening stage and the Qing Dynasty is the perfecting stage. The developing course is characterized by continual handing down to the present, gradient expanding and continuous deepening.
