Abstract
The fluid flow in the continuous casting tundish is one of the key factors affecting the inclusion removal,so numerical simulation is applied to investigate the fluid flow in a four-strand continuous casting tundish and study the effects of the height, radius of the circular turbulence inhibitor and the height of top edge on the fluid flow and inclusion removal in the tundish. Results show that the floating and removal rate of inclusions less than 80 μm rises by 20% when a circular turbulence inhibitor with 300 mm height,170 mm radius and 20 mm height of top edge is mounted in a four strand tundish.
